Origami Oracle
The Brief
A love of art and an obsession with black and white might sound like a simple brief — but the result was anything but ordinary. Designed for a boutique real estate developer’s office in New Delhi, this space was built around a single intention: that anyone walking through the door should feel a sense of joy.
The centerpiece is a striking folded-paper ceiling installation that begins at the entrance and threads through the corridors, touching every office door along the way — its delicate, angular folds an abstract nod to the many lines and plans drawn in the client’s own line of work. Original construction drawings from the client’s past projects are framed and displayed along the lift lobby, grounding the space in its own history.
A deliberate choice was made early on to move away from conventional office furniture, softening the line between residential and commercial design. The belief was simple: people feel most at ease in spaces that echo the comfort of home. Cool grey marble forms the structural backbone, warmed by generous natural light, while sharp black accents are punctuated by unexpected pops of color — carmine red and sunset orange lighting, and a considered collection of artwork bringing shades of purple and cyanotype blue into the conference room and beyond.
Playful, precise, and full of personality, Origami Oracle proves that even a “back to black” palette can hold real warmth.
